Saint Benedict Abbey

New Wells, Pump Station, Treatment & Storage Upgrade

SAINT BENEDICT ABBEY - 252 Still River Road, Harvard, Massachusetts

Saint Benedict Abbey houses roughly 30 permanent monks, and holds many large social and community functions, including weddings, funerals, and overnight retreats. The Abbey's three existing wells pumped directly into their distribution system, without any atmospheric storage tanks. The three wells experienced diminished yield, and low system pressure, particularly during, and therefore severely impacting their social functions.

We installed, pump tested, and secured a New Source Approval from Mass DEP for one new well. We also designed and permitted a new above-ground pump station building, and an underground 15,000 gal concrete water storage tank.

The pump station collects and treats water from their four wells for arsenic removal, and then feeds the treated water into the storage tank by gravity flow, avoiding the need to pump to the tank. 15,000 gals of treated water is now available to meet peak demands during all of their social functions. They have never run low on water ever since!
